Home games will be played at Chicago Hope Academy Field located at 2431 W. Roosevelt Rd. Chicago, IL 60608.
Two years ago, Chicago Hope Academy purchased a parcel of land with an attached landmark building just 3 miles from downtown Chicago, near the intersection of Roosevelt and Western. The Lion’s established a partnership with CHA to make this their permanent home field. The building, a former Turner Gymnastics facility, is being renovated into a multi-use property with 2 apartments and a ground floor clubhouse with locker room facilities with showers in the basement. Extensive work has already been done on the field, converting what was essentially a scrap yard and storage facility into a playing field that has served as a rugby pitch for both CHA and the Lions. In fact, the Lions played two fall seasons and one Rugby Super League season already.
With help from the Chicago Lions, CHA has established a rugby program and kicked-off its inaugural season in the spring of 2009. Several of our players are serving as coaches; we have provided equipment and have done joint training sessions. In addition, CHA has played games against other IYRA clubs as curtain raisers before our home games.
CHA has 501c3 status and all gifts are documented and tax deductible. CHA has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars since its startup 3 years ago. CHA has a large and active parent and donor base. CHA has an excellent reputation and connections to leading political, community, educational and corporate contacts that have produced broad support and recognition.
