The President’s Cup Golf Outing is named in memory of past Chicago Lions Rugby President Keith Brown and is held on a Friday afternoon in June. This event brings together current and past Chicago Lions and their supporters in a fun afternoon of golf. As President of the Chicago Lions, Keith was an inspirational leader and a passionate advocate for the sport of rugby. Keith was instrumental in the formation of the CLCA and in building the partnership with Chicago Hope Academy. His dream of the Lions owning our field is now a reality.
On an unusually beautiful day in mid-May, the Lions and their friends gathered for the golf outing and to honor Dick Smith with the President’s Cup. We had over 70 golfers with two foursomes of current players. It was a great afternoon of fun and golf culminating with recognizing Dick Smith for all he has done for the Chicago Lions.
A special thanks goes out to Sue Kane whose husband, Ed, was the inaugural recipient of the President’s Cup last year. The Midwest Championship trophy was in attendance and we all celebrated regaining the title of Midwest Champs.
A special thanks to Jim Kearney for organizing and to Lisa Quinn for always volunteering her time and donating the dinner sponsorship. We also want to thank Michael Palmer and Palmer-Tech as the beverage cart sponsor and all the hole sponsors. This event would not be a success without you!!!
See you in 2018!
